Another Day of Training [Solo]

Post by Alucard on Sat Feb 17, 2018 6:02 pm

Quest:
Name: Defeat the Collossus
Rank: S
Location: Western Ridbrad
Description: A rogue Collossus is causing chaos in a small town. It's one of the weaker ones, so it is only around 200 meters tall and its tier is 1-1, but it still is absolutely massive and can cause immense damage to the surrounding area! Bring it down without too much damage to the countryside!
Rewards: 6,000 gold

It had been a long time since Rue and Alucard met. She had learned so much in that time and grown to match. She could hold her own against almost anyone or anything that they came across in their travels and was able to speak Elder Tongue almost fluidly. As it would happen, Alucard was a decent teacher. Able to understand and speak from experience to help her through any blocks she may come across. They were currently high in the mountains of Ridbrad, doing a bit of light sparring as she worked on her control of the Fire element. Fireballs of equal size clashed over and over as the two would coat their fists in fire, only to release the energy upon each hit. The explosions were enough that they had melted away all of the snow and the surroundings were coated with a layer of white fog. "Douuh ara uhmstrouvurg, Ruha." Alucard would compliment as he blocked another punch. She sent another one as she blushed slightly at the praise, "Rarchq, Hmaqrar." Alucard would block the punch, then grab her wrist and use a hip toss to send her to the ground on her back. "But, you still have much to learn. That will do for now though, we should get moving." She would stand shakily and nod her head, strapping her sword to her back and tightening the strap holding her hair out of her face. She was glad that she had gotten stronger, as she would need it with this mission. They were hunting a Colossus, massive titans who were said to be classified on the same level as Dragons. Most didn't view them as being that powerful, but that is only due to their typically docile nature. The one they had been sent after however, was apparently quite the opposite of docile. He had been destroying nearby towns and farmlands, eating people, livestock, crops, building supplies, pretty much anything he could get into his mouth. But, Alucard had accepted the mission and had decided that she would be taking on her greatest challenge yet. Her blade that Alucard had gotten made for her would suit her well in the coming fight, but she still needed to practice with her new bow some more as well, so she may favor that a bit more. Thinking of Alucard, the man was still a complete mystery to her. He seemed to be so powerful and well traveled, yet he looked no older than twenty. He also looked to be an ordinary human, regular ears, black hair, steel grey eyes, there was nothing that really stood out to her about him. He surely was skilled in combat, and he had a very large pool of magical energy. But, he seemed to keep a tight leash on it as she still couldn't gauge his pressure. He remained a mystery that she hoped to be able to crack one day. They had traveled a good distance through the mountains when they came across another town. They got into the local inn and rented a couple of rooms and stayed the night. They got to enjoy warm food, cool brews, and soft beds. It had been a few weeks since they had that particular luxury.

Re: Another Day of Training [Solo]

Rue woke up earlier than normal, actually at around four in the morning as opposed to the normal six that Alucard typically fetched her at. She couldn't rest, not with the daunting task ahead of her. Leaving her room and heading out of the inn and then just outside the small hamlet. She found a tree that was on its last legs of life, probably wouldn't see another twenty years. She drew her sword, making sure not to allow any of her spiritual pressure to be drawn into the many runes along the blade. She wanted to practice form and accuracy. It would do her no good if she sliced the tree up with each strike. She spent the next two hours training her body and muscle memory to remember every movement of the style Alucard had been teaching her.

Alucard woke to something strange in his senses. He had managed to rest for a few hours in a deep meditation, it was the only way he actually managed to rest without horrible nightmares plaguing his slumber. But, the strange feeling was that Rue was not in the inn any longer, in fact, from feeling her spiritual energy, and the fluctuations in her spiritual pressure, it felt like she was in combat. Deciding it was better to be safe and have an eye on her, he allowed his Eye of Chaos to manifest. He could now see that she was not in any danger, but was doing a bit of training. It was time for them to get on the move and back on their target's trail, so he deactivated the Mythic Artifact and would move to go and fetch her. Arriving at her little training ground, the Demon would simply wave his hand to her, "Hello Rue, you are up early this morning. Having trouble sleeping?" Rue would turn around and greet him, "Yes, I was a bit anxious for the coming battle, and decided to come get a bit of training done." She would sheathe her blade and walk over to where Alucard was standing. "Anticipation is a good thing in moderate amounts, but adding nervousness to the mix will only serve to weaken you in the fog of battle." Spoken like a true wise man, Rue would nod her head, showing she had received, understood and appreciated her master's wisdom.

Rue followed Alucard as they walked through the snowy forest in a valley between the mountains. Apparently, a local farmer had seen the massive beast in some field only a few days ago, and apparently that field was just at the other side of the mountains. Rue was wearing a fur-lined shirt and pants with fur boots and leather and fur gloves. These gloves were specially made to aid her in her use of archery, giving her fingers just the right amount of agility to maneuver their way around a bowstring or the hilt of a blade. Her bow and blade were strapped to her back, ready to be drawn at the moments notice. Her master on the other hand, was wearing a normal black shirt, black pants and black shoes. He had no gloves, but did have on a black overcoat with a hood that was in lined with fur. He didn't seem fazed much by the cold, and this was simply due to the fact that he hated the cold so much, he created a spell purely for dealing with it. Though she had yet to master it, so she was unable to use it as effortlessly as he was, though he said it was good for her and would toughen her up. She merely sighed and followed along, her enigmatic master still remained an unsolved puzzle.

She wondered what made him the way he was. He was a very laid-back and practical person. He never put more effort than necessary into anything and he never seemed to be taxed or over-encumbered by, well, anything. She knew he was powerful by the way he had done away with those wolves almost a year ago, but she still had little to go on his history or real power level. Each time she asked, he would simply brush off her questions, saying things like, 'You'll know one day.' or 'I'll tell you when you complete your training.' But t her, all this really said was that he wouldn't tell her anything about himself until he absolutely had to. While she recognized his right to privacy, she couldn't imagine any reason he would have to hide things like his history, strength or even simply his age. He was a handsome man, but he was far stronger than anyone else she had met that was as old as he looked. Sneaking a glance at him as they walked, she watched as his ponytail swayed with his steps and he seemed oblivious to the world. Some slight steam rolled off of him as his fire magic melted away any snow that landed on him from the constant drizzle of snow. "Master, would you be able to take on a Colossus by yourself?" It was a question that had been bugging her ever since he told her about this mission. He sounded absolutely confident that they would be able to complete the mission easily. Was it because he had so much faith in her strength? Or because he knew that if things went south he could defeat the legendary beast with ease? She would probably never know.

Alucard would pause and look back to Rue out of the corner of his eye. "It's possible, but then, you could too. Sometimes it isn't how powerful we are, but how prepared we are, or how powerful.. or weak our enemy is. But at the same time, the most powerful enemy can be felled in a single blow by a child due to lack of proper planning. It is important that you remember to always plan three steps ahead, five if you can, just so you never need to worry about being crept up on."

Re: Another Day of Training [Solo]

Finally, the time had come, they arrived in the clearing and saw exactly what they had come in search of. A massive, 200 meter tall Colossus was meandering in their direction from across a great snowy plain. The beast looked like a very muscular humanoid made from stone and steel. He was obviously heavily dependent on strength and durability if his build was anything to go by. As they stood, watching it from afar, Alucard would look at Rue. "Alright, go ahead and prepare yourself to attack. Take all the time you need to steel your resolve and prepare for the upcoming fight. Remember to keep your head about you, these things are a Legendary beast, even if this one is still insanely young for its species. I will be standing by, should you need me." With that, her master walked away, to sit in the branches of a nearby tree.

This was the big break Rue had been waiting for. IT was her chance to prove herself to Alucard. The man had been training her ass off for almost a year and this would be the ultimate test to prove her strength to the man. Keeping all he said to her fresh in her mind, she would also begin to recall and prepare things she had learned in research and preparation for this quest. A Colossus is an ancient species of giants who evolved into semi-mindless titans that boasted incredible strength and durability. They had no real discernible weakness, not even to any of the elements or specific types of magic, so one simply had to overpower them with brute force. She would pull out her bow and release a volley of four pressure arrows at the beast, each exploding the moment they hit their mark, his face. Waving his hands in the air, he fixed his eyes on Rue, taking off in a dead sprint, she was caught off-guard somewhat by the speed it was showing, but she chalked it up to momentum. She would gather all the energy she could in her feet, jumping high into the air, she would switch her bow for her blade. Moving to lice straight down on the beasts face, she was caught off guard at being backhanded back to the ground with enough force to crack the ground upon landing. She was slightly dazed from being jarred at the landing, but she managed to be aware enough to see the massive fist swinging towards her.

Alucard watched with a serious look in his face. He was thinking of all the things she had improved since he last saw her fight, what things she still needed to work on and what she would need to do to accomplish progress. It was then he saw her get swatted from the air like a gnat. Springing into action, he would activate an enhancement spell and vanish in the blink of an eye, deactivating and then reactivating enhancing another stat. Strength. Rushing forwards, he would stop just in front of her, raise a single hand and catch the fist of the giant. Holding out his opposite hand to Rue, she would grab it, pulling out her blade. Alucard would spin, sending her flying towards the massive beast at break neck speeds. When she arrived at his head, she managed to remove it using her blade that can cut almost anything. Now they had their trophy, they would be handsomely rewarded for this.
