Races of Skyshard

There are a total of nine Races to choose from when creating a character.

Humans - One of the most common races in the world, they are known for their skill at using swords and Earth, Water or Fire type Elemental Magic.

High Elves - The Second most common race in the world, they are known for their natural talent at magic, specifically the use of Air type Elemental magic and in some cases, Alchemical magic. They also gain a +0-1 Tier bonus to spiritual energy.

Dark Elves - The most common race in the world, they are enslaved by the High Elf population but are also known as extremely powerful users of the Fire and Lightning types of Elemental Magic. They also gain a +0-1 Tier bonus to spiritual pressure.

Wood Elves - A common race found within the Kingdom of Ridbrad, they are known for their skills as both marksmen and thieves. they also gain a +0-1 Tier bonus to speed.

Dwarves - The most common race found in the Kingdom of Ridbrad, they are known for their hearty nature and skill with crafting and enchanting weapons. They also gain a +0-1 Tier bonus to Durability.

Dryads - The most common Race in the Kingdom of Capralorn, these tree creatures are very well known for their mastery of Life Magic, specifically the plant type. They may choose a +0-1 Tier bonus in either Durability or Spiritual Energy. They also have a slight healing factor.

Giants - The largest Race and very common in the Kingdom of Caprilorn, these massive humanoids stand at nearly ten feet tall and are as strong as they are large. Though they are completely unskilled at the magic arts. +0-1 to strength and durability but -0-1 to spiritual energy and spiritual pressure.

Seraphs - This race of angelic beings is very rare and isn't common within any Kingdom. They are known as very talented priests and are able to use the Rare Light type of Magic. They can appear to belong to any human or elven race though they do not gain any of that races bonuses. Their defining features are their glowing blue eyes and the ability they have to manifest two feathered white wings. Due to their unique physiology, they gain +0-1 into any stat but -0-1 in another. They also have a major healing factor.

Demons - A rare race often blamed for the creation of the Vampires and Werewolves, though this has never been proven. This is the one natural race that is hunted openly by Priests and therefore they often remain in hiding. They can appear to belong to any human or elven race but they do not get any of that races bonuses. Their defining characteristic is their glowing red slitted eyes. Due to their unique physiology, they gain +0-1 into any stat but -0-1 in another. They also have a major healing factor.

Below are the general Life-spans of the Races found in Skyshard. These are not the maximum age one may start, as there is no maximum, these are just a common lifespan so that you can have something to base it off of.

Human- ~70 years

High Elf- ~90 years

Dark Elf- ~60 years

Wood Elf- ~90 years

Dwarf- ~50 years

Dryad- ~100 years

Giant- ~100 years

Demon- ~1,000 years

Seraph- ~1,000 years

Though not really a Race and more of a condition, this is where you will find the system for Vampires and Werewolves. Any Race can become a Vampire or a Werewolf and they retain their original appearance, their official race however, changes to whatever condition they received. There are also certain things that those afflicted with Vampirism or Lycanthropy must do in order to survive.

Vampires must feed from a human at least once a month. This is to allow them to remain healthy and in disguise. If a vampire does not feed for one month, his appearance will alter slightly, growing long fangs, pointed ears, shadowed eyes and pale skin. After two months, the vampire loses control and will go on a feeding frenzy. If three months go by, the vampire will die from malnutrition.

Werewolves are the slightly more violent breed. In order to stay alive and in control of your transformations, a werewolf must feast on a human heart at least once every month. If one does not feed on a human heart for one month, they will transform in a feeding frenzy every other topic. After two months, their transformation becomes permanent, locked in a feeding frenzy, until fed. After three months they die of malnutrition.
